I was born in 1960; I was the first public pool in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. I was born as a consequence of Don Martín Cortez James vision. I had a happy childhood, in that time; I was called "La Poza del Bato". I was a local swimming pool located in the outskirts of the small city. In fact, many people told Don Martín that he was crazy because he was building a pool so faraway

As a spa, I was the center of meeting for the whole youth in that time.  My refreshing waters accompanied many years of amusement and entertainment to the family of Santa Cruz.  I had the pleasure to admire diverse beauty contest and fashion shows.  Also in the carnival time, I was the starting point for the carnival groups and their queens.

pioneer in Bolivian hotelery, officially open the doors as “ Hotel Cortez". I was 12 rooms and 3 cottages.  The Chancellor meeting from La Cuenca del Plata embellished of elegance my birth as a hotel.

Starting from my agitated childhood, my growth was vertiginous and constant.  I suffered many sacrifices and efforts.  I accompanied at the same rhythm the strong development of the city.  I received in my rooms big personalities like Julio Iglesias, Pele the king, Sandro and others celebrities that visited this region.

In my youth, I had 50 additional rooms and other gastronomic services and comforts that made me more attractive.

In my early teenager years, I had 96 rooms, 4 cottages and 7 meeting rooms.  My executives worked hard to offer my visitors the best quality in the hotel service.  Don Martin and his family formed a work team all of them work with care and zeal in order to offering the best service.

Today, with 37 years, I have graduated with honors.  I am the first hotel in Bolivia with an International certificate of Quality ISO 9001:2000.  I have the capacity to complete the needs and expectations of all my clients; offering warmth, kindness, but always keeping the special treatment and atmosphere of my beginnings.

I feel nostalgic for my creator called "Lorito" Cortez. I miss his famous sentences that he liked to repeat all the time: "love the work and respect the workers", “valeroso”, " K'anudo ", Those were the times... however, I am very pleased because his children have received his blessings and they have been able to be contagious of that pioneer impulse.

Thank you for sharing with me my 37th birthday.  I feel blessed and strengthened because I am always trying to improve.

As my founder said: “un saludo, ¡valeroso!”.
