Our history

Our establishment was founded in the year 1960, making it the first public bathing area in the then small city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The founder, Don Martin Cortez, gave it the name of “La Poza del Bato”.

Before its first decade had ended, the premises were extended to include 12 rooms, 3 cabanas, a restaurant, a children’s park and pools for children and adults. In this state, the "Hotel Cortez" was officially inaugurated on August 6th, 1968.

At the end of two decades, the hotel consisted of 96 rooms, 4 cabanas, and 7 event halls together with the restaurant and its recreation areas, forming a complete hotel infrastructure in accordance with the needs of our clients and the times.

In 2011, IBNORCA awarded the National Quality Prize to the Hotel Cortez. This distinction, in the category of First Certified Systems Company, was due to the commitment to quality and security the hotel has in its services and attention to clients. At this time, it is the only hotel in Bolivia with Quality Certification ISO 9001.

In September of 2012, the Executive Building was inaugurated, with 90 executive rooms; with this extension, the hotel now offers a total of 184 rooms (among them singles, doubles, triples and suites), all equipped for the most demanding of clients.
