    Our establishment started the year 1960 as the first resort of the then small city of Santa Cruz. Its founder, Don Martin Cortes, the baptized as "La Poza of Bato." Our place starded in 1960 like the first resort of the small Santa Cruz city. Mr. Martín Cortéz, its founder, baptized it as "La Poza del Bato".

     

    Since then, was the meeting place of the youth, fashion place and the starting point for the carnival parades: the bigest party in Santa Cruz.

     

    Before the first decade, we build twelve rooms and three cottages. Therefore was officially started the "Hotel Cortez" in August 6, 1968.

     

    That year was the official meeting place for the foreign ministers of the Cuenca del Plata. Since then, our institution has grown same as Santa Cruz de la Sierra city.

     

    To face this growth we expanded the rooms to 86. Whith the restaurant and green areas become a complete infrastructure for business people and tourists.

 

     

    We received personalities such as Julio Iglesias, King Pelé, Sandro, Henry Kissinger, Baltazar Garzón.

     

    Before completing two decades we have constroyed 96 rooms, four cottages and seven meeting rooms.

     

    The team headed by Mr. James Martin Cortez aimed to offer the highest quality of hotel service.

     

    In 2000, we obtained the ISO 9002. Since 2003, our system of quality management was certified with the ISO 9001:2000. We are the first and still the only one hotel in Bolivia with this certification.
